Orient midfielder making progress

Leyton Orient midfielder Sean Thornton is closing in on a return to the first-team after recovering from a knee injury. The former Sunderland man has been sidelined since picking up the injury in mid-August. O's boss Geraint Williams has told skysports.com that it should not be too long until the Irishman is back in contention. "Sean is back in training now, but it has taken a little longer than we first thought it would and we were hoping he would be available already this season. "He is working very hard at the moment and we will try to boost his match fitness with a couple of reserve games in the next couple of weeks. "When he is fully fit it is then up to him to earn a place first in the squad and then in the side."

Tough trip

Orient face a tough trip to free-scoring Huddersfield Town at the weekend and Williams admits that he is a keen admirer of top scorer Jordan Rhodes having worked with him at Ipswich Town. "I am a big fan of Jordan's and obviously I worked with him at Ipswich, so I know what a good goalscorer he is and it is no surprise to me that he has taken to life in League One like a duck to water. "He is a great player and we know that if he gets chances during the game he will score, so as a defensive unit we have to try and deny him those opportunities."
