Swans chairman insists manager staying at Liberty Stadium

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has described reports linking Paulo Sousa with a move away as 'utter garbage'. The Portuguese tactician has reportedly been in the frame for jobs at West Ham, Hull City, Coventry and Greek side Panathanikos, after just one year at the Liberty Stadium. But Jenkins has slammed such rumours and insists the 39-year-old is staying with the Swans. "People are just scratching round for stories and coming up with these things," he told the Swansea Evening Post. "The stuff about Hull is utter garbage and the Panathinaikos link is rubbish too." Sousa has just returned from a break in Portugal and is due to have a meeting with Jenkins, who added: "We are going to talk generally about a lot of different things." The pair will most likely discuss the future of striker Stephen Dobbie, who has been linked with a move to newly-promoted Premier League side Blackpool after a loan spell there. Jenkins remarked: "Stephen is under contract with us and therefore he will be back for pre-season. "I have never had a conversation with Blackpool about a permanent deal. I haven't heard from them since their (play-off final) win at Wembley."

Contract extension

Meanwhile, defender Albert Serran has signed a new one-year deal with the club. The 25-year-old Spaniard, who joined the Welsh outfit in July 2008, would have been out of contract this summer but has penned new terms with an option for a further 12 months. Serran had a frustrating campaign with injury last time out, as he missed a large part of the season with a knee problem.
