Napoli are determined to keep Fabio Quagliarella and insist there have been no offers for the striker, who is attracting interest from Rubin Kazan.
Quagliarella only joined Napoli from Udinese 12 months ago but he enjoyed a fine campaign to help the club qualify for the Europa League.
Russian side Rubin have identified Quagliarella as a player that could take them to the next level and reports suggest they are ready to offer him a lucrative deal.
Rubin managing director Evgeny Golov told
Corriere dello Sport: "We really like Quagliarella as the striker we need to make the leap.
"We are missing someone like him."
Quagliarella's agent Giuseppe Bozzo confirmed he was aware of the interest in his client but said he has no plans to take the matter further until a bid arrives.
"They asked, would you be willing to come to Rubin?" he said.
Bozzo went on to add: "They must now talk to Napoli, make a formal bid, and then we will see."
Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon maintains that, while the club would listen to any offers, they have no plans to let Quagliarella leave.
"At this time there are many rumours and a few facts," Bigon told
Radio Marte.
"We received no offers. If an important offer arrives we'll evaluate it, but our position is to keep the player."
Reinforcements
Napoli are also looking to bring in reinforcements ahead of the new Serie A season and are trying to sort out a deal with Sampdoria for Daniele Mannini, who is co-owned by the two clubs.
"We have not yet agreed with Sampdoria. We will try until the final day," said Bigon.
Napoli are also considering a swoop for Fluminense striker Fred, with Bigon adding: "He is a great player, but it is just one of many options. We should not hurry."
