Lilywhites land defensive duo Brown and Morgan
Preston boss Darren Ferguson has signed defensive duo Wayne Brown and Craig Morgan as he continues to boost his squad for the npower Championship campaign.
As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week Preston were keen to bring Brown back to Deepdale.
Brown had a loan spell with North End during the 2008/09 season and the 32-year-old centre-back joins on a free transfer from Leicester.
And Ferguson has returned to former club Peterborough to land centre-back Morgan for a fee in the region of £400,000.
"Craig Morgan is only 25," said the Preston boss.
"He made his debut at 16 so he seems like a veteran but he's not, the lad's got great ability.
"Wayne is one that we know all about," Ferguson added.
Experienced signing
"He is very experienced, he has had a promotion with Hull and got to the play-offs last year with Leicester in the Championship so he obviously knows this division well."
Peterborough were keen to cash in on Morgan as he only had one year left on his contract and they managed to agree extra clauses for the Wales international, who signed on a free transfer from MK Dons in 2007.
"I would like to thank him for his service during his time with us," Peterborough's director of football Barry Fry told the club's official website.
"He contributed greatly to the back-to-back promotions.
Posh boost
"The £400,000, as well as the possibility of another £250,000 if Preston are successful, is a good deal and not only that, we have a 25% sell-on clause if Preston do sell him in the future.
"If you put that alongside the Scott Rendell deal, which was for £125,000, then I think we have had a pretty good week."
Rendell was snapped up by Wycombe after the 23-year-old striker impressed on a season-long loan with Torquay last term.
