Defender plays for longer than expected in outing for reserves

Leicester have a received a boost after defender Miguel Vitor managed a full 90 minutes for the reserve team on Wednesday. The 22-year-old Portuguese is on season-long loan at the Walkers Stadium from Benfica but has been out with a hamstring problem since the end of December. He returned to action in the 1-0 win over Southampton reserves and played for longer than expected. First team coach Dietmar Hamann said: "The plan was for him to play 70 to 75 minutes but he felt well and to get 90 minutes under his belt is even better."

Change

When fully fit, the defender, who was recruited by former boss Paulo Sousa, will be a welcome addition to the squad as Sven Goran Eriksson's side mount a push for promotion. Hamann added: "The manager has watched him play and there are a lot of games still to go. "Things can change quickly in football. You can get suspensions and injuries and then the situation changes." Meanwhile, the 1-0 victory over the Saints also saw a first appearance for former Portugal goalkeeper Ricardo, who has joined City until the end of the season after being released by Real Betis.
