Young centre-half committed to Championship club

Portuguese defender Miguel Vitor is keen to extend his stay at Leicester, according to manager Sven-Goran Eriksson. The 21-year-old was brought to the Walkers Stadium by former boss Paulo Sousa on loan from parent club Benfica last summer. Eriksson, who is reportedly keen to tie down the services of all six of his current loan signings ahead of next season, says the centre-back has voiced his desire to remain with the Championship side should the Portuguese club allow him to stay.

Stay

"I don't know if Benfica want to take him back but Rui Costa (Benfica director of football) is one of my contacts in my phone to call," Eriksson told the Leicester Mercury. "But I know Miguel wants to stay if Benfica don't take him back. "What he said, which was very nice, was that the biggest surprise was how good the football was for a second division. He said it was fantastic. "The qualities of the teams are very high and it is very competitive. It is good. "Vitor has learned a lot this season and has really enjoyed himself." Eriksson has been impressed with how his loan signings have settled into life with the Foxes this season. He added: "I think the loan lads have enjoyed it and they have been good to us. "Maybe some of them have a lack of experience and some mistakes come from that. But that is not their fault, it is more my fault.
Experience
"I am sure they have liked it here and I am sure they have learned a lot. "It has been good experience for them because many of them have no experience of league football. "It has not really been difficult to integrate the loans because they are clever guys and good players. They have a good mentality."
