Hungarian forward over knee injury and back in Baggies frame

Zoltan Gera could make his long-awaited return from a serious knee injury in West Brom's friendly date with FC Copenhagen on Wednesday. The Hungarian forward has not figured for the Baggies since damaging cruciate ligaments in November 2011. With an ankle problem having kept him sidelined prior to that, Gera is yet to make his mark since returning to The Hawthorns for a second spell. He is, however, back in training and new boss Steve Clarke is ready to ease the 33-year-old into his first-team plans. "Zoltan had a long-term injury for 14-15 months, give or take two or three games," he told the Birmingham Mail. "But he is working every day and showing signs of improvement.

No rush

"If we can get him some time on the pitch in Copenhagen then great, but we won't rush him. "It's not psychological - he's been in the game long enough to know it's part and parcel that you do get injuries. "We will see how the work goes over the weekend." Meanwhile, Clarke concedes that summer signing Yassine El Ghanassy, who made his debut against Malmo on Thursday, is not yet ready to handle the demands of Premier League life. "It was just a little cameo," added the Baggies boss. "He did some good things but he is one for the future, one we need to nurture and develop. Physically, he's a little bit behind the rest. "We need to not put him under pressure but give him time to develop into the Premier League."
