Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed Molde manager on a three-and-a-half year deal

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as manager of Molde less than two years after leaving the Norwegian club.

The former Manchester United player was in charge of Molde from November 2010 until January 2014, when he left to manage Cardiff City in the Premier League.

Cardiff were relegated at the end of that season and Solskjaer left the club in September, meaning he has been out of work for more than a year.

Molde, for whom Solskjaer played for a single season before his 11-year spell at Old Trafford, play Celtic in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Solskjaer returns as the club sit in seventh place in the Norwegian top-flight with 43 points from 27 games, and he is relishing the challenge following a League Management Association course in England.

"The last comeback was good and hopefully this one is going to be successful as well," Solskjaer said.

"I've tried to educate myself, I've done a course back over in England, the LMA Diploma in Football Management which I'm still doing, I've been studying all the teams, coaching an Under-16 team, Under-8s teams, so lots of coaching."
