Wesley Sneijder is set to have a medical at French club Nice, Sky Sports News understands.

The 33-year has agreed a contract in principle to move to Ligue 1 having been released by Galatasaray this summer.

Sneijder had been with Galatasaray for five seasons, where he scored 45 goals in 174 appearances following a move 2013 move from Inter Milan.

The attacking-midfielder has managed to keep a place in the Netherlands national team over recent seasons despite an influx of younger talent in an attempt to rejuvenate the national team.

He has scored once in five appearances for them in 2017 and six in over 20 caps since he was replaced as Oranje captain by Louis van Gaal in 2013.

Galatasaray paid £8.4m for Sneijder after he scored 19 goals in over 100 appearances for Inter, who bought him from Real Madrid for £12.6m in 2009.
