Even though the transfer window is now shut across Europe, there is still talk of potential moves in January or even next summer. Our friends at Football Whispers have scoured the continental media for the latest news and transfer rumours.
Liverpool would have sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, had they managed to secure the signing of Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller. The Brazilian was available for €100m (£88.4m) as long as the German arrived at Anfield, but Jurgen Klopp's move for the 28-year-old didn't materialise as Bayern turned down any offers. (Sport Bild)
Barcelona are the latest club to lead the race for Leon Goretzka, as the Schalke midfielder will now decide between joining the Catalan club, or Bavarian giants Bayern Munich. English clubs Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are also interested, but the player is likely to choose between two of Europe's super clubs and remain on the continent. Neymar has asked Paris Saint-Germain to consider selling Edinson Cavani as he believes it is impossible for the pair to play in the same side. The players argued over who would take a penalty in their game against Lyon at the weekend, and the dispute continued after the game. There were also squabbles over who would take a free-kick from a dangerous area and Neymar, who left Barcelona to escape the shadows of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, wants to be the main man at PSG. Barcelona tried to sign Antoine Griezmann this summer, and made an offer of £124m for the star striker who was also rumoured to be joining Manchester United. Ernesto Valverde's side had trouble securing the signature of Philippe Coutinho in the summer as the player wanted to move but the club wouldn't sell, but Atletico had no such trouble with Griezmann who preferred to stay at the Wanda Metropolitano. Real Madrid are looking to sell French striker Karim Benzema to Arsenal. The club's president, Florentino Perez, wants to move the player on as he looks to refresh the forward line with a new centre forward. Benzema turns 30 this year, but Arsene Wenger's side are thought to be willing to pay up to €50m (£44.2m) for his services. (Don Balon)
Real will then look to replace their outgoing striker with Tottenham forward Harry Kane, in what could be a win-win situation for Arsenal, Spurs' north London rivals. The Gunners are set to lose Alexis Sanchez at the end of this season, and he could move to Madrid too, but Perez sees Kane as a long-term replacement for the goal scoring exploits of Cristiano Ronaldo. (Don Balon)
Manchester United are interested in signing Genoa striker Pietro Pellegri, and his two goals against Lazio only served to heighten their interest. The 16-year-old's agent is in England this week, arousing suspicion that he could join an English club, despite Juventus being the favourites to sign him. AC Milan and Chelsea are also thought to be interested. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

Atletico Madrid's Uruguayan defender Jose Gimenez is one of many stars across Europe whose contract runs out at the end of this season. The 22-year-old has been quoted as saying he "dreams of playing in the Premier League," which will have a number of clubs offering him a contract in January. (L'Equipe)
