The winter transfer window does not open until January 1, but clubs across Europe are busy planning and tentative negotiations will have begun in preparation.

Spain

Cristiano Ronaldo has told Real Madrid he wants to leave in the summer. The 32-year-old forward has reportedly grown frustrated with his tax situation in Spain and has been unsettled by recent rumours linking Neymar with a move to the Bernabeu. However, Real have no intention of selling the former Manchester United star, who has a €1billion (£895m) release clause in his contract. (Diario AS via El Chiringuito).

Torino striker Andrea Belotti has emerged as a top Real Madrid transfer target. The Spanish giants have placed him alongside Tottenham forward Harry Kane in their list of potential forwards and the Italy international has a €100m (£89.5m) release clause in his contract, meaning he would likely come slightly cheaper than the Spurs favourite. Barcelona are prepared to go head to head with Juventus in a race to sign Spurs playmaker Christian Eriksen. The Denmark international has eight goals and three assists for club and country this season and, although it would take a massive bid to prise him away from Wembley, the two European heavyweights are prepared to pursue a deal. Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao. The stopper was recently called up to the Spanish national side and has yet to agree a new deal with Bilbao. Madrid see Kepa as the ideal alternative to long-time target David de Gea. (AS)

Denis Suarez says he does not want to leave Barcelona but feels the club want to sell him. The 23-year-old has started just two games under Ernesto Valverde this season amid reports that he has become a Napoli transfer target. "My dream is to spend many more years at Barcelona," he said. "I feel like, for whatever reason, the club or representatives are perhaps leaving open the possibility of me leaving but this is not my intention." (Mundo Deportivo)

Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal admits he feared retirement after being diagnosed with a heart condition. The Spain international was told he has pericarditis, a viral infection affecting the membrane enclosing the heart. As it is rare and difficult to treat, the 25-year-old said: "You begin to realise and fear the possibility this may be serious enough for you to give up your playing career," he said. "Right now, I feel in great shape, I have worked hard over the past fortnight and I believe this has paid off. (Diario Madridista)

Italy

Carlo Ancelotti is edging closer to succeeding Gian Piero Ventura as Italy manager after holding talks about the position on Wednesday. The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss is now the clear frontrunner to succeed Ventura, who became the first Italy coach in 60 years to fail to qualify for the World Cup. Meanwhile, Italian Football Federation president Carlo Tavecchio is refusing to resign despite calls to do so. (La Gazzetta dello Sport)

Jose Mourinho has given up hope of signing Manchester United transfer target Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. The Portuguese coach tried to snap up the Croatia international in the summer but the midfielder decided to stay at the San Siro. Now, Mourinho has turned to Valencia youngster Carlos Soler as he prepares to bolster his options in the January transfer window. (Calciomercato)

Torino are preparing to offer Belotti a new contract to ward off interest from Real Madrid. (Tuttosport)

Napoli are preparing a €35m (£31.3mi) bid for PSG transfer target Federico Chiesa. The Fiorentina playmaker has been heavily linked with a move away from La Viola and has also attracted interest from Inter. However, Fiorentina are preparing to offer the 20-year-old a bumper new contract as they accelerate attempts to keep their prized asset. There is no suggestion that Chiesa is angling for a move. France

Lille coach Marcelo Bielsa says the club will back him in the January transfer market. The Argentine tactician wants to sign three players, with Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala, Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony and Miguel Layun of Porto believed to be his primary targets. (L'Equipe)

Germany

Bayern Munich transfer target Sandro Wagner may join the club in January. The 29-year-old striker was linked with the Bundesliga champions in the summer but agreed a new contract with Hoffenheim. However, Bayern are determined to sign a back-up to Robert Lewandowski and will ready a bid for the Germany international who has scored six goals for Hoffenheim this season. (Sport BILD)

Galatasaray have been handed a major boost in their attempts to sign Barcelona playmaker Arda Turan after finding a sponsor to pay the player's high wages. (NTV Spor)
