Dulwich Hamlet's goalkeeper had to sprint off mid-game to stop his car being towed after several tannoy announcements warned his vehicle was about to be "forcibly removed".
Preston Edwards said he was "running late and saw no spaces" after the friendly match against Crystal Palace, in which an obstructing car outside the Imperial Fields ground turned out to be his.
He tried frantically gesturing to supporters, shouting 'that's my car' when the ball was out of play - but the stadium announcer repeated threats to remove the vehicle.
After he heard three warnings over the stadium speakers from his own goalmouth, Edwards decided enough was enough at half-time.
"It wasn't a wind-up," he said on Twitter. "The first two times I ignored it. The third time they mentioned it getting towed. That's when I panicked!"
Dulwich Hamlet supporters even cottoned on before the 'keeper was able to make a getaway.
'Preston, Preston move your car' became the chant among the stands.
Palace ended up 5-0 winners in the fundraising match, raising more than £1,000 for Dulwich Hamlet's playing budget.
Luckily Edwards' quick escape meant he managed to avoid a hefty fine, too.
