Spain
Lionel Messi has a release clause in his contract that allows him to leave Barcelona for nothing in the summer of 2020. However, much like Xavi and Andres Iniesta, he would be unable to join another elite side. Messi has stated previously that he would like to play for Newell's Old Boys, the team he trained with as a boy, before he retires. (Mundo Deportivo)
But Barcelona plan to offer Messi a one-year extension to his current deal, which expires in 2021. If the 31-year-old agrees terms it would be his ninth contract renewal since 2005. (Mundo Deportivo)
Manchester City are ready to strike a deal with Ajax for Frenkie de Jong. The Dutch midfielder is also a Barcelona, Tottenham and Manchester United target, but the Premier League champions hope to conclude a deal which sees them pay €80m and allow the Dutch side to keep De Jong until the end of the current season. Real Madrid want to bring a new centre-back to the Bernabéu to challenge Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. Los Blancos attempted to sign a new defender in the summer but failed in their attempts. Marquinhos is on the shortlist but Real believe it will be difficult to negotiate with PSG, so they may turn to Corinthians' Leo Santos or Mario Hermoso of Espanyol. (Marca)
Junior Minguella, the agent of Barcelona summer signing Malcom, claims the winger "does not like the situation" he's in at the Camp Nou. The Brazilian has played just 25 minutes this season after snubbing Roma to sign for the La Liga champions. Minguella added: "So far he has not had many minutes but when he can play he will demonstrate the quality he has." (RAC1)

Maurizio Sarri believes there is much more to come from Eden Hazard. The Chelsea star has been in stunning form this season, scoring eight goals in 10 games. Manchester United have made contact with Juventus boss Massimo Allegri's representatives about succeeding Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford. United are willing to offer the Italian a three-year contract and a €200m transfer budget. (Calciomercato)
