Zlatan Ibrahimovic was in good form as LA Galaxy kept their hopes of a play-off place alive with a 3-1 win over Minnesota

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored and provided an assist as LA Galaxy kept their Western Conference play-off hopes alive with a 3-1 win over Minnesota United.

Ibrahimovic headed in his 22nd goal of the MLS season on the half-hour mark before Ola Kamara and Romain Alessandrini stretched the Galaxy's lead at TCF Bank Stadium.

Angelo Rodriguez scored a consolation for Minnesota but Galaxy now sit seventh, a point behind Real Salt Lake.

FC Dallas started Sunday at the top of the league, but dropped to third after they were beaten 3-0 at home to Sporting KC, who are the new leaders.

Ilie Sanchez had already missed a penalty for the visitors when Daniel Salloi struck on the stroke of half-time at the Toyota Stadium. Roger Espinoza met Ike Opara's knock-down to make it 2-0 before Johnny Russell completed the scoring from the spot.

Kansas can now wrap up the Western Conference title with a win over LAFC next weekend. Los Angeles threw away a two-goal lead at home to the Vancouver Whitecaps to draw 2-2.

Diego Rossi's double had put the hosts in control but Yordy Reyna's penalty and a Jordon Mutch thunderbolt ensured the points were shared.

Over 71,000 watched Atlanta beat Chicago Fire 2-1 to remain one point clear at the top of the Eastern Conference - meaning the race for the Supporters' Shield will go down to the final day of the regular season.

Franco Escobar gave Atlanta the lead nine minutes in when he received Joseph Martinez's pass and bent his shot inside the far post - his first goal for the club.

Michael de Leeuw equalised for Chicago just 15 minutes later but his effort was cancelled out moments later when Johan Kappelhof put through his own net.

Elsewhere, New York Red Bulls are just a point behind Atlanta after beating Philadelphia 1-0 in an ill-tempered contest at the Talen Energy Stadium.

Auston Trusty and Alejandro Romero clashed just before the break, but the Red Bulls were awarded a penalty after 69 minutes when Haris Medunjanin was adjudged to have handled inside the box. After the referee consulted VAR, Romero made no mistake to give the visitors their 21st win of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Montreal kept their play-off hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Toronto at the Saputo Stadium. The hosts took the lead after Eriq Zavaleta fouled Ignacio inside the box, and the striker stepped up to fire his team ahead.

The Argentine made it 2-0 a minute from time and Montreal need a win at New England next weekend to have a chance of making the play-offs.

Columbus Crew currently still occupy the final spot after they were beaten 2-1 at bottom club Orlando City. It was Orlando's first win in 99 days but they fell behind nine minutes into the second-half when Federico Higuain scored with a free-kick.

Orlando were awarded a penalty moments later after a handball from Gaston Sauro, and Yoshimar Yotun stylishly dispatched his spot-kick to level.

In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Orlando were rewarded a second penalty after Chris Mueller was brought down inside the box and Sacha Kljestan sent Zackary Steffan the wrong way.

Other results: Houston Dynamo 2-3 Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers 3-0 Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes 0-0 Colorado Rapids, DC United 3-1 New York City.
