Jordan Pickford reflects on Everton's goalless draw with Chelsea, and says he backs the decision to recall Wayne Rooney for one last England match.

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford believes Wayne Rooney deserves his international send-off against the USA next Thursday.

The 33-year-old will make a one-off appearance in a friendly encounter to be named the Wayne Rooney Foundation International in support of Rooney's charitable interests.

Rooney's 120th cap will come more than 14 months after initially calling time on his international career and has caused much debate about its validity.

But Pickford is in no doubt it is the right thing to do for England's all-time record goalscorer.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, Pickford said: "It's great for him, a lot of other nations do it and give players a send off.

"He's England's all-time record goalscorer and I think it's the right thing to do.

"And it's against the US which is where he's currently playing so it's a nice touch."

On the game itself, which is live on Sky Sports Main Event, Pickford believes the spirit in the dressing room continues to be key to England's success.

"The mood is really good in the camp which helps us put in top performances," Pickford added.

"We all know what to do and how to work for each other and that team spirit is England's quality."
