The January transfer window is into its final week and, with another round of fixtures coming up, several clubs may find themselves persuaded to enter the market.

SPAIN

Real Madrid have dropped their interest in Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen and are focusing all their attention on landing Eden Hazard in the summer. However, they will unlikely pay over €100m for the Chelsea forward, who is valued at over £150m. Real hope, with the Belgian entering the final year of his contract, a deal can be done. While having talks with Barcelona regarding a deal for Denis Suarez, Arsenal took the opportunity to discuss the availability of 21-year-old winger, Malcom. However, the Gunners were less keen when they heard the Spanish club would demand a €55m fee for any permanent deal. (Mundo Deportivo)

Alvaro Morata is expected to join Atletico Madrid on Sunday. After Chelsea's capture of Gonzalo Higuain, the Spanish forward is free to leave the London club. He will undergo a medical in the Spanish capital before completing his loan move. (Marca)

With the confirmation of Frenkie de Jong signing for Barcelona, the Catalan club have turned their attention to his Ajax team-mate Matthijs de Ligt. The two are close friends and have often spoken about their desire to continue to play together. Barca are confident the capture of the midfielder will be enough to sway the defender towards them. Paris Saint-Germain think they have found a way around the Financial Fair Play issues stopping them from buying Idrissa Gueye from Everton. The Merseyside club are interested in Belgian full-back Thomas Meunier, and although the Ligue 1 champions would still need to pay a fee for the former Lille man, a swap deal would reduce the financial burden. Serge Aurier has made it known he would like Adrien Rabiot to join him in London. Spurs' interest in the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is known, but the Ivorian defender posted a picture on social media of the two players together, a heart emoji and a praying hands emoji. (Instagram)
