The Brazilian Football Confederation have confirmed an approach for general coordinator Edu from an "English club".

Sky Sports News reported in January that the former Arsenal midfielder was in line to return to the club as their new technical director.

Edu is contracted to the national team until 2022 and, in a statement released on Wednesday, the CBF insisted the 40-year-old was fully focused on this summer's Copa America.

"Co-ordinator Edu Gaspar has a current contract with the CBF until the end of the Qatar World Cup in 2022," a CBF statement read.

"Edu Gaspar informed the CBF that he received an offer from an English club but explained at the moment that he is solely focused on Brazil's matches at the Copa America.

"The CBF, therefore, denies any speculation around names for the position of coordinator. We're clear about the qualities required for this position which brings together an administrative capacity and experience on the field."
