Swansea boss Graham Potter is close to agreeing a deal to become the new Brighton manager, Sky Sports News understands.

Discussions over personal terms continue, and both sides are hopeful there will be an announcement by Wednesday.

The 43-year-old was offered a new contract by the Swans in an attempt to keep him at the Liberty Stadium but Potter has told them he is keen to take on a new challenge in the Premier League.

Brighton saw an initial approach to Swansea knocked back on Tuesday, with Potter still having two years left on the contract he signed after joining from Swedish side Ostersund last summer.

It is believed the contract includes a release clause of just under £2m as Brighton look to replace Chris Hughton, who was sacked on Monday.
