It was a good day for the League One promotion hopefuls - with the exception of Ipswich.
Rotherham had already maintained their momentum at the top of the table with victory at Lincoln on Friday night and Wycombe, Peterborough, Coventry, Portsmouth and Sunderland all picked up three points on Saturday - the latter at the expense of Ipswich.
Wycombe kept hold of second place after beating Bristol Rovers 3-1. Adebayo Akinfenwa opened the scoring in the ninth minute as he converted Dominic Gape's daisy-cutter cross.
Jayden Mitchell-Lawson restored parity with a 20-yard strike, but a quickfire double saw the hosts put the game out of reach. Jamal Blackman did well to keep out Joe Jacobson's powerful shot with Darius Charles on hand to turn home the rebound before Matt Bloomfield fired home the third from inside the box in the 41st minute.
Peterborough made it five wins in a row with an impressive 4-0 victory over fading Oxford.
Strikes from Siriki Dembele, a double from the division's top scorer Ivan Toney and a late fourth from Josh Knight kept Posh hot on the heels of the top two despite having Nathan Thompson sent off.
A late Maxime Biamou goal was enough to give Coventry all three points as they overcame a plucky Bolton side in an entertaining 2-1 victory.
Portsmouth continued their assault on the automatic promotion spots as a 2-0 victory at Tranmere leaves Kenny Jackett's side just six points off first place. Goals from Sean Raggett (13) and Ryan Williams (51) earned the visitors their ninth successive win in all competitions.
Chris Maguire netted an 81st-minute winner as Sunderland climbed above opponents Ipswich and back into the play-off spots with a 1-0 victory at the Stadium of Light.
Blackpool finally picked up their first win of 2020 with a routine 2-1 victory at home to struggling Southend.
A goal in each half for top scorer Armand Gnanduillet secured three vital points for Simon Grayson's side as the Shrimpers slip into deeper relegation trouble despite Stephen McLaughlin's late strike.
Ten-man Burton held on for a hard-earned point in a goalless draw against Gillingham at the Pirelli Stadium.
The Brewers had to play the final quarter of the game a man light after Oliver Sarkic picked up a second yellow card for a foul on Connor Ogilvie as Albion tried to launch a swift counter-attack.
Paddy Madden's late winner saw Fleetwood beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1 to make it back-to-back league victories for the first time since September.
Oliver Rathbone rescued an important point for Rochdale as his late equaliser earned a 1-1 draw at Doncaster.
Omar Beckles' 62nd-minute goal was cancelled out by Ryhs Healey as Shrewsbury and MK Dons played out a 1-1 draw at New Meadow.
