The January transfer window will come soon after the World Cup. From key dates to how to follow with Sky Sports, here's what you need to know...

When does the window open?

The transfer window opened on Sunday January 1 2023, for clubs in England and Scotland.

In Europe, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 windows also opened on January 1, while La Liga and Serie A begin their trading on Monday January 2 2023.

When does the window close?

The January transfer window will close in England at 11pm on January 31. Europe's top five leagues will also close their transfer window on the final day of January.

As usual, players can be bought and sold across Europe and beyond. Loan deals are also able to be completed during the month-long window.

Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam provided a transfer update on Arsenal's pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.

After completing a deal to sign Molde striker David Datro Fofana, Chelsea look set to step up their business. The Blues are interested in Benfica and World Cup-winning midfielder Enzo Fernandez, and have earmarked strengthening their defence.

Which club should Portugal forward Joao Felix sign for with several clubs interested in his signature?

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix has been linked with a departure from the Wanda Metroplitano in January, with reported interest from clubs in the Premier League.

Atletico Madrid have themselves have been linked with Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu, whose contract is set to expire in the summer.

Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi isn't worried about losing World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister in the future, despite his impressive performances in Qatar.

Argentina's Fernandez impressed in the middle of the pitch for Argentina during the World Cup as did compatriot Alexis Mac Allister. Mac Allister and fellow Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo are both admired by other clubs.

Another midfielder that impressed during the World Cup was Morocco's Sofyan Amrabat. His asking price has rocketed off the back of his performances in Qatar and it remains to be seen if a Premier League club could tempt Fiorentina to part with the 26-year-old.

Another stand-out performer at the 2022 World Cup was England's Jude Bellingham.

Will the 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder be joining some of his English team-mates in the Premier League? There has already been talk of Liverpool being a potential destination for the young star.
