Dani Olmo: Barcelona confident of re-registering midfielder but Premier League clubs monitoring potential January move

Barcelona remain confident of agreeing a deal with LaLiga to re-register Dani Olmo - but clubs across Europe, including in the Premier League, are watching events closely.

The Spanish club are understood to remain calm about the situation despite missing a deadline to meet the financial ratio target necessary to put him back on the books from January 2.

It is being described by sources in Catalonia as a 'postponement' - and Olmo himself posted a New Year's Eve message on his social media with two hearts in the Barcelona colours.

LaLiga said Barcelona "did not present any alternative" on adhering to the regulations, which was required for the club to "register any player beginning on January 2".

A judge had ruled against the club on Monday in the second consecutive court setback ahead of the end-of-year deadline.

Without the court's backing or the league's approval, Olmo's contract cannot be re-registered despite only joining Barca from RB Leipzig last summer.

Barcelona had reportedly reached a deal to sell VIP seats at the renovated Camp Nou stadium for €100m (£82.9m) that Spanish media said would be enough to add Olmo and forward Pau Victor to the squad.
