The best team on Boxing Day is... your club's record on December 26

Manchester United are England's most successful team on Boxing Day.

United have won 54.35 per cent of the 92 games they've played on December 26, winning 50, drawing 15 and losing 27.

In a Sky Sports study, looking at clubs' records on December 26, League One Oxford United are a surprise second with a 51.28 per cent win rate ahead of Championship side Brighton (49.30 per cent).

The study only included current top-four tier clubs that had played 15 or more Boxing Day fixtures since 1888.

Liverpool were the only other Premier League team to make it into the top 10 with a 45.88 per cent win percentage from their 87 games.

At the other end of the table, Newport County have the worst record on December 26 with just 10 wins from 48 Boxing Day fixtures.

In terms of Boxing Day goals, Manchester United also top the pack with 185 in total, conceding 134 (12th highest).

The highest-scoring Boxing Day fixture was in 1935 when Tranmere Rovers thrashed Oldham Athletic 13-4 at Prenton Park. Indeed, Oldham have conceded 155 goals on Boxing Day, more than any other team.
