Which England players in Russia have the best penalty records?

England play Sweden in the World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday and face the prospect of another penalty shootout - but which players have the best records from 12 yards?

England ended their penalty hoodoo with a dramatic shootout win against Colombia on Tuesday, with Marcus Rashford, Kieran Trippier and Eric Dier all scoring from their first spot-kick attempts at senior level.

The Three Lions have won only two of their nine penalty shootouts in major competitions - with the previous triumph coming 22 years ago in 1996 during a 4-2 victory over Spain.

But, statistically, which England players should step forward if Gareth Southgate's side end up deadlocked with Sweden after 120 minutes? We checked each player's career statistics since 2010/11 to find out...

Harry Kane has already converted three penalties during normal time in Russia and coolly converted his shootout kick as England's first taker.

The Tottenham striker is uncontested from the penalty spot, having taken almost twice as many penalties as any other player in the squad, scoring 24 of the 28 he's attempted.

That ratio converts into a squad-topping 86 per cent conversion rate - excluding players to have taken only one penalty - followed by Jamie Vardy with 15 taken and 12 scored (80 per cent).

The 32-year-old knows what it's like to miss penalty for England at senior level, having smashed the crossbar during the 4-2 shootout defeat to Italy in 2012.

However, beyond Kane, Vardy and Young, England have no other seasoned spot-kick takers - with centre-back Harry Maguire being the next most experienced with four taken and two scored.

Raheem Sterling, Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson - who had his attempt saved on Tuesday - have stepped up twice and failed once.

Meanwhile Dele Alli, Gary Cahill, Jordan Henderson, John Stones, Kyle Walker, Marcus Rashford, Kieran Trippier and Eric Dier have converted their solitary strikes.

Finally, Manchester United duo Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard have missed their only spot-kick attempts, with the latter hitting a tame effort on loan at Birmingham nearly five years ago.

In the event of a second successive shootout, Southgate may stick with his policy of consistency and select the same five players - with Jamie Vardy reportedly out of contention through injury and no other experienced penalty-taker other than Kane within the squad,
