Manchester City have been charged by the Football Association after failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

A number of players were seen to surround referee Michael Oliver after he awarded the visitors a penalty just after half-time.

"It is alleged that in or around the 50th minute of the fixture, the club failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion," said an FA statement.

City have until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge.

City were fined £35,000 by the FA in December after failing to control their players during an ill-tempered 3-1 defeat to Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Following a goalless first-half at the Etihad, James Milner put Liverpool in front from the penalty spot after Roberto Firmino went down under the challenge of Gael Clichy.

Sergio Aguero brought City level with 21 minutes remaining, but neither side could muster a winner and both had to settle for a point.
