Midfielder signs one-year deal

Danny Murphy has signed a new contract at Fulham to keep him at the club until June 2009. Murphy carved his name into Fulham folklore as he scored the winning goal against Portsmouth on the final day of the season to keep Roy Hodgson's side in the Premier League. The 31-year-old moved to Craven Cottage from Tottenham last summer and made 33 appearances over the course of the season. Hodgson has already strengthened his midfield options by bringing in Zoltan Gera and Andranik Teymourian but Murphy has been assured he remains a key member of the squad. He has agreed a one-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.
