David Beckham has praised Sir Alex Ferguson as the pair prepare to reunite for Unicef's Match for Children on November 14.

Beckham played under Ferguson between 1992 and 2003 at Manchester United, winning six Premier League titles in the process, and says the club's success is down to the Scot.

Beckham and former Real Madrid team-mate Zinedine Zidane will captain all-star football teams for the Match for Children at Old Trafford on Saturday, November 14, with Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti as managers.

Beckham said: "Obviously he was my favourite manager I ever played for, he gave me my chance to play for the team I've supported my whole life, and the success we had there was down to him as a manager and the players we played with.

"So to have Sir Alex Ferguson involved in this was something you can only dream of and a I really want to thank him for being a part of this.

"It's great to have someone so respected, one of the most decorated managers in football history being part of something that is so important to so many children around the world."

Italian legend Pierluigi Collina, who was named FIFA's Best Referee of the Year for six consecutive years, will referee the match, and money raised from tickets sales and donations will go to Unicef.
