Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has won the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

The 19-year-old has made a remarkable impact at Old Trafford since becoming the most expensive teenager in transfer history with a £36m move from Monaco on deadline day.

Martial scored on his debut in the 3-1 victory over Liverpool on September 12 and then added a brace in a 3-2 away win at Southampton on September 20.

What are the weekend's talking points

The France international grabbed another in the Capital One Cup win over Ipswich three days later and has continued to impress in his three appearances since.

It is the first time a United player has clinched Player of the Month since Robin van Persie in April 2013 but Martial was pipped to United's own monthly player award by team-mate Juan Mata.

However, the French teenager also scooped the PFA Fans' Player of the Month prize for September - Louis van Gaal was piped to the manager's award by Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
