All the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Saturday, June 3.
Sky sources understand that Manchester United are interested in signing Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
Jose Mourinho was in charge at the Bernabeu when Varane arrived in 2011, coaching the 24-year-old for two seasons, and he has identified the France international as a target as he looks to strengthen his defensive options.
Sky sources also understand Mourinho has highlighted three other defenders as possible targets alongside Varane - Virgil van Dijk at Southampton, Burnley's Michael Keane, and Victor Lindelof of Benfica.
But long-time target Lindelof has said his "focus is on Benfica" as United once again come calling for the defender's services.
"There are rumours as there is always, at all times,' Lindelof told Swedish outlet VLT. "I will say the same thing I always do, I have a contract with Benfica. I'm still young and I'm developing all the time. My answer will always be that my focus is on Benfica."
Real Madrid will start their formal bidding for David de Gea next week as they look to test United's resolve over their goalkeeper, The Telegraph reports.
Sky sources understand that United turned down a £60m Real Madrid offer for David de Gea last week, although the club insist it was not an official bid.
Ivan Perisic continues to be linked to an Old Trafford move, with reports in the Daily Mail saying that United are close to agreeing a £45m deal for the forward.
Sky sources reported last week that United were in contact with Inter Milan over a potential deal, which outlets in Italy - as quoted by the newspaper - are saying is near completion.
Former United player and interim manager Ryan Giggs also says that the club's pursuit of Antoine Griezmann may have legs in it yet.
"I'm not so sure if we've heard the end of that. I think it'll be ebb and flow during the summer, there'll be lots of rumours," Giggd told Sky Sports News HQ.
"United need goals. All the teams I played in there were goals from everywhere. Sometimes you'd rely on a centre-forward for a season, but more often than not you had midfielders, even defenders, wingers and obviously the forwards all contributing."
