All the latest Man Utd transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Thursday, July 6.

United are ready to sensationally hijack Romelu Lukaku's £100m move from Everton to Chelsea, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The Belgium international, 24, is contracted to the Toffees until the summer of 2019.

Meanwhile, the Mail says that Everton are hopeful of thrashing out a deal to bring United captain Wayne Rooney back to Goodison Park.

However, the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement over the England striker.

And the Guardian's take on this ongoing story is that Rooney is in advanced talks with Everton about rejoining his boyhood team.

The move, though, centers on the Merseysiders matching the £250,000-a-week basic salary he earns at United.

Both the Mirror and The Times, though, claim United are offering Rooney as a makeweight to Everton in a bid to beat Chelsea to the signature of Lukaku.

It is expected that the frontman will depart the Toffees before the transfer window shut for business on August 31.

Elsewhere, Antoine Griezmann insists it would have been "dirty" had he left Atletico Madrid for United this summer during the club's transfer ban.

The France international forward was heavily linked with a big-money move to Old Trafford at the end of last season, before declaring his intention to remain in the Spanish capital.
