Luke Shaw and Ashley Young both came through unscathed as they returned to action for Manchester United’s reserves against Swansea on Monday night.
The England internationals both started, playing 58 minutes of the 1-1 draw at Leigh Sports Village before being replaced by Joe Riley and Tosin Kehinde.
Belgian teenager Indy Boonen secured a point for United's U23s with a late equaliser to cancel out Kenji Gorre's opening goal for the Swans.
Shaw had not featured for United since last season's Premier League match against Saturday's opponents Swansea City on April 30 after suffering ligament damage in his foot.
Young also saw his season cut short after suffering a hamstring injury in United's Europa League semi-final first leg against Celta Vigo on May 4.
The return of Shaw and Young will increase Mourinho's on the left flank, an area he has been keen to strengthen this summer.
United have shown interest in Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic, with Mourinho outlining his desire to add a player capable of operating at left wing back when United go to a back three.
The contracts of both Shaw and Young expire next summer but United have an option to extend each by a further 12 months.
Daley Blind has been selected at left back ahead of Italian international Matteo Darmian in each of United's first two Premier League games.
