Paul Pogba says Manchester United have improved their mental strength

Paul Pogba has thanked Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United team-mates for keeping faith and allowing him to remain the club's first-choice penalty taker.

The Frenchman scored twice in United's 3-0 victory over Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday, with his second coming from the spot.

It was United's first penalty since Pogba had one saved by Joe Hart in the win at Burnley earlier this month, and the 25-year-old was grateful he was allowed to retain the responsibility.

Following the win in Switzerland, he said: "I didn't have doubts about taking the penalty. I know I missed that one. Joe (Hart) got me that time but I won't do the same mistake.

"I had the confidence as well of the players, they let me take it, so I should thank them for this, for the manager - he let me take it as well."

Mourinho was impressed with the confidence Pogba showed in stepping up to take the penalty in the Stade de Suisse - his fourth goal in six matches this season.
