Totti eyes Red Devils scalp

Francesco Totti would opt for a win over Man Utd, rather than Roma's Serie A rivals Inter.

Skipper opts for Man Utd win over Internazionale

Francesco Totti has admitted that if he had to choose between a victory over Internazionale or Manchester United, he would certainly opt for defeating Sir Alex Ferguson's Red Devils. The Premier League side blitzed Totti's Roma 7-1 in the UEFA Champions League last season, and the club captain says revenge will certainly play a part when the two sides meet on Tuesday in the competition's group stage. Internazionale face Roma in Serie A on Saturday evening, but Totti believes that the squad will have their eyes firmly fixed on the Old Trafford encounter.

'A general disaster'

"I'd like to win both clashes," Totti said, "but should I have to choose, I prefer winning in Manchester. "More than Inter we think to Old Trafford, where last year we suffered a general disaster. That evening, I felt bad. We were sure to overcome the round and to join the semi-finals." Totti continued to state that his side are set to put their horror show from last season behind them, as they look to mount their challenge towards the competition's knock-out stages.

Revenge

"I have a big will for revenge," he stated. "We don't have to enter the ground thinking of what happened last season, otherwise we won't be able to do good things this time too." Roma have made a confident start to Serie A this season, and sit top of the pile and undefeated after five games. Their progress so far has prompted Totti to issue his Manchester United opponents a fierce warning. "It's normal now saying Roma are the favourites, but in the Italian league there are also Inter and Milan. "If we continue in this way it will be difficult stopping us," he concluded.
