Nemanja Matic has backed Eden Hazard to recapture his very best form for Chelsea next season.

The Belgium midfielder has endured a disappointing 2015-16 campaign, but provided a reminder of his undoubted ability with a stunning solo goal in Chelsea's 1-1 draw at Liverpool.

Hazard's latest strike came just over a week after his goal in Chelsea's 2-2 draw against Tottenham in the 'Battle at the Bridge', which handed Leicester City their first ever Premier League crown.

"I have said it many times, Eden is our best player. He is in a good moment now and can always decide games," Matic said.

"I am very happy because he played very well against Liverpool and in the last few games he also did well. I'm sure he will be a very important player for Chelsea next season."

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink was pleased with the performance of his players despite conceding a late equaliser against Liverpool

Overall it has been a dismal campaign for last season's champions, who look set to finish in ninth or 10th place - their lowest position in the Premier League since 1996.

Last season, Hazard was voted the PFA Players' Player of the Year after playing a pivotal role in Chelsea's charge towards the title.

But following the draw at Anfield, defender Gary Cahill said: "I thought we played well, I thought we gave a good account of ourselves and there were some great individual performances, especially Hazard.

"Everyone in the stadium I am sure enjoyed watching him play, whether Liverpool fan or Chelsea fan. To see that out there was something special."
