Matt Miazga joins Reading on loan from Chelsea

Chelsea defender Matt Miazga has joined Sky Bet Championship side Reading on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old USA international completed a medical at Reading on Friday morning at Hogwood Park before agreeing a short-term deal.

The central defender spent the first half of the season on loan at Ligue 1 side Nantes, where he made eight league appearances.

Royals manager manager José Gomes said: "Matt is a skilful, committed and commanding presence at the centre of defence and I am very pleased we have been able to welcome him into our family.

Miazga began his career in MLS at New York Red Bulls and has previously spent two seasons on loan at Vitesse.
