Transfer News: On-loan Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford happy to stay on

Patrick Bamford would be ‘more than happy’ to stay on loan at Middlesbrough from Chelsea until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old is currently on loan at The Riverside until January after taking in spells at MK Dons and Derby County last season.

He marked his first start for Boro with his first goal for the club in Saturday’s 4-0 home win over Brentford and he is enjoying his time with the Championship side.

Bamford is pleased to be working with Boro boss Aitor Karanka, who was Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s assistant at Real Madrid.

“I chose to come here until January because I wanted to keep my options open,” said Bamford.

“The way things are going at the moment I’m more than happy to extend the loan if the opportunity arises. I’m loving it here.

“A lot of the training sessions are similar to those at Chelsea, which isn’t a surprise given the connection between the managers.

“The tempo and intensity are higher than any other loan club I’ve been at and it seems to have paid off with my first goal.”
