Daniel Sturridge trained with his Liverpool teammates today as he continues to recover from a hip injury

Daniel Sturridge has returned to training for Liverpool as he continues to recover from a hip injury.

Sturridge missed Liverpool's final two pre-season matches, a 4-0 win against Barcelona and a 4-0 loss to Mainz last weekend, with what the club described as a slight hip issue.

Sturridge was involved in training on Wednesday despite still recovering from the injury and trained separately from the main group.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits he has "no idea" if Sturridge will be fit to play Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Super Sunday.

The 26-year-old made just 14 Premier League appearances for the Reds last season and 12 throughout the 2014/15 season. He is currently recovering from his 21st reported injury on Merseyside.

Liverpool's preparations for the new season have been overshadowed by injury problems, with the left-back role looking to be a particular issue.

James Milner, Loris Karius, Lucas Leiva,  Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez are currently also sidelined and are set to miss the clash against the Gunners.
