Sadio Mane looks set to miss Wednesday's Premier League home game against Bournemouth after picking up an injury during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Everton on Saturday.

But Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is hopeful that the forward will not be absent for too long.

Mane has been a key figure at Liverpool since arriving from Southampton in the summer and gave them the lead in the eighth minute of Saturday's derby with his 13th Premier League goal of the season.

But the Senegal international had to be taken off in the second half, his left leg having buckled beneath him when he tried to block a Leighton Baines clearance just before the hour mark.

Having received treatment, the 24-year-old then collapsed to the ground as he limped towards the touchline, and had to be replaced by Divock Origi.

Mane was later seen walking out of Anfield unaided and pulling a suitcase but Klopp told Sky Sports after the match: "We don't know what Sadio has done but it doesn't look like he is going to be ready for Wednesday."

The Liverpool manager added at his post-match press conference: "Hopefully it's not that serious but of course it's not nothing and that makes our life not easier I would say.

"Obviously he has pain and it didn't look like it's only a knock or a muscle or something, but we have to wait.

"When I came in I was looking for him immediately and I saw him on the bed.

"He'd already had treatment, and it didn't look like he felt really comfortable."

Despite the loss of Mane, Liverpool went on to claim the three points in the derby, Origi finding the net three minutes after coming on to seal a 3-1 win.
