Reds manager Benitez feels striker has become 'distracted'

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has urged Fernando Torres to regain his focus after telling the striker to 'stop arguing'. Benitez feels that Torres has become 'distracted' by the treatment he sometimes receives from opponents. Torres is one of the most feared forwards in Europe, having netted 38 Premier League goals since signing at Anfield from Atletico Madrid in 2007. But the Spain international endured a quiet outing in the Reds' loss at Tottenham at the weekend, and Benitez has spoken with Torres about focusing on his own game. "He seems to be distracted more and arguing a lot more, and I told him that he has to stop this," Benitez said. "He knows he has to improve this aspect of his game. He has to be completely focused on his football and he knows that the way forward is to respond to any intimidation by scoring. "Sometimes it is not easy to deal with everything opponents do, but he knows he must deal with it in a different way. "In his first season he was really focused and I think he will do that again now. I don't think he is frustrated. "He knows he has to improve a little bit in these things. He is a star and the defenders are really worried about him, but that is part of the game now."
