Arsene Wenger insists Danny Welbeck will play again this season but will not be available for Arsenal's Monday Night Football fixture against Swansea.

Aaron Ramsey is also an injury doubt and Wenger admits he has a 50/50 chance of playing against Garry Monk's side.

Wenger on Welbeck: "He will play again this season. It's nothing major but he will be short for the weekend."

Arsenal will finish in second place if they win 10 points from their remaining four Premier League fixtures.

There has been a feeling in the past that Wenger's side have been forced to sell their stars and not been able to build for the future. The Gunners boss feels this is no longer the case and admits he could dip into the transfer market to improve the current squad.

What you want to do more than early is do it right. You have to take the opportunities when they come up," said the Arsenal manager.

"You have to always be on alert. Fix your target and do it when it's possible."

Manchester United swept in yesterday to scoop up PSV Eindhoven's exciting forward Memphis Depay, in a £25m deal according to Sky sources.

"I like the player," Wenger said of Depay. "We have seven or eight players in that position."

"We feel we have made progress in our consistency, quality and stability. It's important that we finish close to Chelsea."

"Defensively we have been much stronger in the second half of the season but we still have room for improvement there."

"It's not easy to produce quality every year. We had to sell our best players for years but we have got over that hurdle."

"We have a squad of top quality. If we can strengthen our squad then of course we will do it."
