Adam Le Fondre scored a stunning goal for Bolton in their 1-1 draw with Fulham in the Sky Bet Championship.

Substitute Adam Le Fondre earned Bolton a point from their Sky Bet Championship game against Fulham with a stunning second-half strike.

The 31-year-old was thrown on in the 59th minute by Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson with the hosts trailing 1-0 to Matt Targett's early header for the Cottagers.

And the substitution paid immediate dividends for Parkinson as Le Fondre levelled in the 61st minute with a goal-of-the-day contender.

There seemed little danger when Le Fondre collected the ball on the left edge of the Fulham area, but his instant left-foot volley flew over Fulham 'keeper Marcus Bettinelli's head for his first goal since the opening day of the season.

Neither side was able to find the net again as it finished 1-1 and Parkinson was quick to pay tribute to Le Fondre after the game.

"He is a great sub," said Parkinson. "He doesn't want to be known as just a good sub.

"But it is important if he is on the bench, he comes off and makes an impact like he did.

"Games can be won and lost from the substitutes' bench. I think he has the record for Premier League goals off the bench when he was at Reading.

"I have spoken to Alf throughout the season that if he is the sub we need him to give us a lift like he did."
