Bolton are aiming to play their fixture against Brentford on Wednesday evening, Sky Sports News understands.

Saturday's game against Brentford was called off due to the Bolton players going on strike over unpaid wages.

The club is working with the EFL to try to rearrange Saturday's fixture for this week after the Football League told Bolton they expect them to fulfil their remaining fixtures even if that meant playing youth players.

However, Sky Sports News understands there are still issues to be overcome before the game can get the green light.

April's wages are due on Tuesday, and if the general match day staff are not paid it is likely the safety advisory panel of Bolton Council would be convened again, with the threat of a prohibition order being put on the club on safety grounds.
