Asamoah Gyan's proposed move to Sky Bet Championship club Reading has fallen through.
Both parties have agreed not to proceed with the loan and the striker will now return to Shanghai SIPG and consider other offers.
Gyan has been of interested to several other Championship sides and, reportedly, his former club Sunderland, whom he left in 2012, as well as Turkish side Besiktas.
He told Sky Sports News HQ on Sunday he wanted the best move for him so he could prove himself again in English football after leaving for UAE club Al Ain.
He said: "I have a lot of options. Me and my agent are here to evaluate them and get the work done, and then I can continue doing what I do best, which is scoring goals and playing well.
"I am confident I will have a club in England. There are good options to think about, so we had to fly in quickly. Me being in England means there is something concrete, so we need to evaluate the options and do the work."
