James Vaughan has joined Portsmouth on loan from Wigan for the remainder of the campaign.

The 30-year-old striker has made 39 appearances for Paul Cook's Wigan since moving from Sunderland a year ago, scoring six times.

"James is an experienced centre-forward and has been excellent for clubs for a number of years - we're delighted to bring him here," Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett told the club's website.

"He'll bring physicality to our front line between now and the end of the season, which is something we've lacked at times."

A Wigan statement added: "We thank James for his efforts during his time at the DW Stadium and wish him well in his loan spell with Pompey."
