Tottenham forward Fernando Llorente says everyone in the side needs to "wake up" or they will lose easily to Ajax in the Champions League semi-final.

Spurs take on the Dutch giants in the first leg of their semi-final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday having lost 1-0 at home to West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday.

It was Tottenham's first defeat at their new stadium and the first time they had conceded a goal there.

Asked if it had been a timely wake-up call ahead of the game against Ajax, Llorente said: "Maybe it's better, no?

"It's right, we need everyone to wake up because if we play like this on Tuesday we will lose, easy."

"We didn't play like all the fans deserved. We have to show more because it was a derby and very important going into the Champions League.

With Harry Kane still out with an ankle injury and Heung-Min Son suspended for the first leg, Llorente is set to lead the line for Spurs against Ajax.

The Spaniard, who came on as a substitute for Juventus in the 2015 Champions League final, scored the decisive goal for Spurs in the dramatic second leg of the quarter-final against Manchester City.

"The goal was off my hip, it was my first one like that," added Llorente. "But for sure it was the most important goal of my career because we qualified to the semi final of the Champions League and that is a very important thing.

"It was not easy when I was not playing, but I am strong. I am not a new or young player, I have experience and I always keep fighting and try to get my opportunities.

"If I have the opportunity, for sure, I will try to play as well as I can and will try to score. Against Ajax, we need to win and keep a clean sheet.

"This kind of game doesn't need to be prepared for because the mentality of all the players will be different to what it was against West Ham. But if we play like that against Ajax, then for sure we will lose."
