Aleksandar Mitrovic says he will assess any offers from other clubs this summer and is not assured to stay at Newcastle despite promotion back to the Premier League.
The Serbia striker scored six goals in 29 appearances for the Magpies last term, as they topped the Championship over Brighton by a point.
Mitrovic says he will be content to remain on Tyneside should no offers materialise but will hold talks with the club and manager Rafael Benitez over his future.
He said: "I'm very happy to help Newcastle back to the Premier League because that's where the club deserves to be," Mitrovic said.
"If some good offers for me, which are also good for the club, come in over the summer then we will speak about it. If it doesn't happen then I'm still a Newcastle United player. I have three years on my contract.
"So we have to speak to the club, to the manager [Rafael Benitez] and we will see. I heard something about other clubs but for now, I just want to rest. I need to prepare for next season."
Mitrovic has had an inconsistent time at St James' Park since his £14.5m switch from Anderlecht in July 2015. The 22-year-old has scored 15 goals in over 50 games for the club.
