West Brom have made an approach to Newcastle, asking to take Jacob Murphy on loan until the end of the season, Sky Sports News understands.
The 23-year-old has been at Newcastle since he was signed from Norwich in the summer of 2017.
He has only made 13 appearances for the Magpies this season (nine in the Premier League) and West Brom are looking to strengthen their squad as they challenge for top-flight promotion.
Murphy is an England U21 international and came through the ranks at Norwich, who are also among the clubs in contention at the top of the Championship.
