Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane says full-back Danilo has "gone", with Manchester City believed to be close to completing a deal for the Brazil international.
Sky sources report that City are nearing a £26.9m move for the 26-year-old, who is expected to undergo a medical with the Premier League club in the United States.
Madrid face City in a pre-season friendly in Los Angeles on Wednesday and Zidane confirmed Danilo's departure at a press conference on Saturday.
"We've had some very good players move on and some young guys come in. We always try to make improvements," Zidane said.
"Danilo has gone and [Alvaro] Morata too. I'm not saying we're lacking a striker, but there's one missing that we had here last year. That's the way it is. We'll look at how we're going to manage things."
Manchester City have already signed Kyle Walker from Tottenham this summer and will also complete a £51m deal for Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy in the coming days, according to Sky sources.
Madrid, meanwhile, are preparing to face City's rivals Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in Santa Clara, California on Sunday as part of the ongoing International Champions Cup.
