Manchester City's Rabbi Matondo looks set to be the next youngster from a top English academy to head to Germany.
Schalke are closing in on the Wales international after talks with City over a transfer, Sky Sports News understands.
A fee of £11m has reportedly been agreed for the 18-year-old, who was given his first senior cap by Ryan Giggs last November.
Sky Germany reported over the weekend that Schalke had seen an initial £8.6m offer turned down.
Matondo has not made a first-team appearance for City but has starred for their U23s and boss Pep Guardiola issued some praise towards the youngster on Monday.
Asked about Schalke, he said: "I heard about that - they are interested in another young player. But I do not know if it's going to finish.
"I know how good he is. He's a winger, so fast, incredibly quick and a young talent. That is another thing; how good this club is working."
