After scoring the 10th Premier League hat-trick of his career at the weekend, where does Sergio Aguero rank in the list of the Premier League strikers of all time? Rank your top 15 below!

Aguero stepped up when called upon to ensure City closed the gap to leaders Liverpool to two points, temporarily at least, with a 3-1 win over Arsenal at the Etihad on Super Sunday.

Only Alan Shearer has more Premier League hat-tricks to his name than Aguero and, of the players to have scored 50 or more Premier League goals, Aguero has the best goals per game ratio in the history of the English top flight.

Alan Shearer leads the way in terms of overall goals scored, well out in front with 260, ahead of Wayne Rooney and Andy Cole. Aguero sits eighth in the list with 157 goals, but is closing in on Jermain Defoe (162) and Robbie Fowler (163) above him.

So where does Aguero rank in our list of the top Premier League strikers? We've chosen a list based on the top goalscoring central strikers, hence no Cristiano Ronaldo, Mo Salah or Frank Lampard.

Best goals per game ratio in Premier League (min 50 goals)

Player Goals Mins/Goal
Sergio Aguero 157 107.62
Mohamed Salah 50 109.56
Harry Kane 122 115.47
Thierry Henry 175 121.79
Ruud van Nistelrooy 95 128.19

The pundit verdict

Graeme Souness: "Aguero is the ultimate fox in the box. He gets you to slow down, he gets just out of your sight, he's quick over 10 yards and when you've got De Bruyne and both Silva's playing in that team, he is perfect for them because he's so cute and clever with his movement.

"He's not like Thierry [Henry] who would get the ball 30 to 40 yards out, do wonderful things and slot it into the top corner. He has very few touches of the ball, but they are devastating. They are all in the danger area. If you see him drifting wide, he does it simply and saves his energy for when it really matters inside the 18-yard box."

Fernandinho and Aguero give their reaction to Sky Sports following the 3-1 win over Arsenal.

Jamie Carragher: "He is right up there. The interesting thing is he has never been player of the year and he has very rarely featured in the team of the year really. You scratch your head about it and don't get me wrong, I was playing some of the time and voting and not putting him in.

"He's probably going to end up with the most hat-tricks in the Premier League when he finishes. I'm just trying to get to the bottom of why he is not getting other accolades. Is it maybe because he is seen as an out and out goalscorer? Do you see other strikers maybe doing other things? I don't know, I'm just trying to think about what it is. Thinking of the great foreign players who have played in the Premier League, he possibly has to be in the top 10."
