Spurs manager admits he would sign striker if he had the chance

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he would not hesitate in signing wantaway Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez if the opportunity presented itself. The Argentinian looks certain to depart City in next month's transfer window after falling out of favour with manager Roberto Mancini. Serie A giants AC Milan appear to be his most likely destination, although he has also been linked with a Brazilian move. Redknapp admits it is highly unlikely a deal to bring him to White Hart Lane will materialise, but the Spurs manager would not turn the 27-year-old frontman down.

Class

He told TalkSport: "I like Tevez, he's a fantastic player. I couldn't see it happening, but I'd be a liar if I said I wouldn't take him if I had the chance. "When he plays, he's top class. Whatever you say about him, when he plays he has a real go and never plays without putting in all in." The Spurs boss says he is not planning any moves in the transfer market, insisting he is happy with his current squad. "I think we'll stay with what we've got. Unless you can buy a fantastic player, we aren't going to improve too much," he added. "I'd probably give myself a headache by bringing someone else in because I've got plenty of cover in most positions."
